BILLY DETTMER

JENNY'S HOLIDAY

from the MISSING YOU album.

DD55 – BILLY DETTMER – JENNY’S HOLIDAY

“My new collection, MISSNG YOU, has been a long time coming.  It’s 23 years since the last studio Album, I’M YOUR MAN, and 20 since the live album, HERMOSO ES’.  In a nutshell, I’ve been in, out and around this old, Australian music scene for ages.  And now I’m an old Australian. MISSNG YOU takes you on my journey.   Having walked away from playing for years, my guitars whispered to me...  'come back'…  So, I spent the last year and a half recording, while still working away as a Clinical Instructor within Victoria’s Non-Emergency Patient Transport sector.”

“JENNY’S HOLIDAY was recorded at Beat Tank Studio and features just one voice, (mine) one guitar (one of my beautiful hand-made Cargill Guitars) and a stomp box.

All my songs contain at least 2 stories; this one, at first a simple love song to a beautiful woman who needed a day off, but also the thread of a tale I read, about a little girl who came to Australia from war torn Kosovo named Janina (if I remember correctly) who had never seen the sea, a beach or so much greenery.

Jenny’s Holiday started out as on open E tuning for playing The Blues and initially had a 12 Bar feel plus some slide playing.  This is where it ended up.”
